What we'll work on
MechanicsA delivery you can repeat: balance, stride and the lower half.
Arm actionHow the arm moves through the throw, with a cue from a coach.
AccuracyThrowing to targets and finding a release point you can trust.
VelocityWhere it really comes from: the legs and hips start the throw, and the arm finishes it.
Arm careA warm-up and cool-down to protect your arm, and a short routine to take home.
Your coaches
Tom Davey
Former Major League Pitcher
Tom pitched 114 games in the major leagues for the Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres, then five more seasons in Japan. He started out as a Michigan kid at Plymouth Salem High School and Henry Ford College. He coaches mechanics first, then the composure to use them under pressure.
Colin Danek
Pitching Coach, Defiance College
Colin pitched at Alma College, then finished his college career at Defiance College, where he now coaches the pitchers. Not long ago he was the teenager on the mound, so he knows the path your athlete is starting down. He coaches mechanics and the resilience to perform under pressure.
The pitcher and the person
Pitchers work in pairs.
On the mound, each pitcher has a partner who watches and tells them one thing they saw. A pitcher learns as much watching a delivery as throwing one. Everyone leaves naming one thing they'll work on this winter.

One two-hour session. 10 pitchers per group.
Arm care comes first.
Every session starts with an arm care warm-up and ends with a cool-down, and each pitcher takes home a short routine.
